The Dramatic Circle Of Hyderabad is presenting Alan Bennett's hilarious hit Habeas Corpus, on 16th May, at the Ravindra Bharathi auditorium. This well-known British comedy is being directed by Pranava Singhal, and has Vijay Marur as Dr. Arthur Wicksteed, Aarti Phatarphekar as Muriel Wicksteed, Kamal Kasturi as Dennis Wicksteed, Sampada Harkara as Constance Wicksteed, Diksha Marur as Mrs. Swabb, Jayant Dwarakanath as Canon Throbbing, Madhu Swaminath as Lady Rumpers, Simran Shinh as Felicity Rumpers, Anuj Gurwara as Mr. Shanks, B S Prakash as Sir Percy Shorter and Kamal Kasturi as Mr. Purdue.

Habeas Corpus concerns the aging Dr. Arthur Wicksteed and his pursuit of a nubile patient, Felicity Rumpers. Wicksteed's wife, Muriel, is, in turn, lusting after the charming head of the BMA, Sir Percy Shorter, who, as well as being Wicksteed's old rival, turns out to be Felicity's father - the result of an under-the-table liaison during an air-raid with Lady Rumpers, her mother. Meanwhile, Wicksteed's spinster sister Connie, ashamed of her flat-chestedness, has schemes of her own. The 'chorus' is provided by the lower-class housekeeper Mrs. Swabb.

DCH (Dramatic Circle Hyderabad) is the twin cities' premier non-profit amateur theater organization, established in 1964. In the 44 years of its existence, DCH has been consistently working towards its objective of promoting popularisation and appreciation of the theater arts.

In this process, DCH has produced (or hosted) several productions including Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night", Arnold Wesker's "The Merchant" (based on Shakespeare's 'Merchant of Venice'), Indian plays in translation including Girish Karnad's "Tughlaq", Mohan Rakesh's "Aashad ka Ek Din" and Shudraka's "Mrichhkatika", plays from the theater of the absurd including Samuel Beckett's "Waiting for Godot" and "Krapps Last Tape", modern classics such as Arthur Miller's "The Crucible", Peter Ustinov's " The Unknown Soldier", Edward Albee's "The Zoo Story" and Peter Shaffer's "Equus", and many comedies and farces.

DCH has also been doing readings from Wodehouse, Eliort and Ustinov amongst others, apart from regular monthly readings and workshops for children.

The donor passes are priced at Rs. 500 / Rs. 300 / Rs. 100 per head. Please contact 98480-25000/92901-49051 for further details.
