Floor art is one of India's charming traditions, and to propagate and popularize rangoli as an art form, Sneha Lakhotia is conducting a rangoli workshop from 12th April to 15th May at Toli Chowki. Today there are hordes of varieties of plastic stick-on rangoli available in market, and they are time-savers and available in excellent designs. Doing it yourself, however, is the actual essence of Rangoli, and this workshop will teach you to draw beautiful patterns in a day's time, with material (and books) provided by Sneha.

Besides fine rice flour, today chalk, quartz and synthetic coloured powders are used for rangoli. In these types of material, marble powder and a funnel are used. Sneha will teach nearly 50 floor designs, as also creating rangoli on water surfaces by using refined saw dust, and creating Rangoli underwater (a unique technique, by using dalda and colours).

This is a 1-month workshop open for all ages. The fee for this workshop is Rs. 650, and the timings are 1pm to 4pm.

Sneha Lakhotia is a graduate in nutrition, and learnt rangoli for 3 years in Maharastra. For the past 1 year she has been conducting classes on rangoli at her residence. She has trained more than 100 students in rangoli till date. She also participated in television programs conducted by TV9 and Sahara Samay.
