Baker's Inn made the cut in the area for quite a few years, but you were a misfit there if you were not a teenager. Deli 9 perhaps started out at Begumpet thinking it'll plug a vacant market segment higher up on the matrix - the prices are thrice as high. Well, it's the same crowd there too.
The moral of the story is, it's a richer city. Imagine shelling out Rs. 75 for a stupid Black Forest pastry.
The Deli 9 at Lifestyle is more real estate than you would think a mere bakery can afford. Well, those prices would make anything work out. If you've turned techie after a college life spent watching movies for Rs. 30 tickets and wondering what kind of people buy Jeans for Rs. 1,000, it's unlikely you'll come here by yourself for a long time. It's the kind of place that, however, you'd come with company, especially including girls. You'd still keep adding up the prices, though.
However, there's a whole world of youngsters whose parents have made this the richer city that we profoundly mentioned above that it is, and they really don't mind. And so, you get a ringside view of the affluent youngsters and the yuppie crowd of town almost any time starting afternoons at Deli 9. The place is rather surprisingly big, with 10 tables meaning a seating capacity of almost 50, and looks sleek with the muted lighting and upholstered seating.
The entire Deli 9 range is well and truly on display here (as opposed to at Rhapsody), and all the chocolate can be very tempting indeed. The showcase includes all the standard Deli 9 fare - breakfast rolls (muffins, donuts and croissants), cakes (20 varieties, a black forest pastry costs Rs. 75), cookies (Rs. 18 each), quiches, puffs (Rs. 25 for a chicken puff) and bread sold by weight.
The Begumpet Deli 9 is a good place to hang out at in the early days of courtship when going upstairs to the fancy restaurants would be too much, too early. Or when you have just finished a shopping spree at the superstore and are looking to chill for a bit. Or if you just want to shamelessly sin with the dark liquid. Just remember that after a Rs. 75 brownie, it going to be very hard to return to Baker's Inn or Universal.
