The Hyderabad Golf Club, situated under the shadow of the erstwhile Qutb Shahi Dynasty's final resting abode, can be reached only after encountering a meandering account of public urination along the lone, long stretch of side road that leads to the course. You get ample time to muse over the other purposes this alley may serve especially for couples, but once on the premises, your thoughts will grow only greener. The 18-hole course, of which only 3 are operational at present, will hit you with its breathtaking expanse.

With a separate practice area, and an enclosure for putting, the club does best to keep the old hands out of any possible damage at the clubs of the novices. There are efficient coaches to drill the golf etiquette, especially involving surviving the flying projectiles and holding onto your clubs even after delivering a 100mph shot.

The normal timings for the course are 6:00am to 10:00am in the morning, and 3:00pm to 6:00pm in the evening. Coaching can be had on Saturdays and Sundays, at Rs. 250 for a 45-min session each day. Individual coaching is available at Rs. 500 per season (six 2-hour sessions), and for children, on Sunday mornings between 6.00am and 8.00am, at Rs. 100 per session. There are also institutional packages offered: for example, for a 1/2-day practice, the Club will charge you Rs. 300 per person, for a group of 6 persons.

The above fees are applicable to non-members; members require to make a payment of over Rs. 1 lakh, and additional if concessional amounts for taking learning lessons. It doesn't make sense becoming a member then, but it does give you something to talk about over your 7-course social dinners.
