If you are a traveler who adores the Indian Railways, then chances are you have stayed at a Yatri Nivas somewhere around the country, some time or the other. A Yatri Nivas is never too far from a key railway station, and never too expensive for a family on a holiday.

The Yatri Nivas in the city seems to scream out, "On vacation. Will chill out." The whole place has a very laid-back character and an earthy charm. Its ice-cream parlor at the entrance is immensely popular with the locals and tourists alike, and its all-vegetarian South-Indian restaurant, The Tamarind Tree, is all about full-houses.

The Tamarind Tree also has an outdoor extension, which, along with The Hunter's Roost, a dhaba, is a quiet little haven under coconut trees. Aangan is a delightful little bar-cum-restaurant that is known for its food fests. And Yatri Nivas' pub, On the Rocks, is about spirit (Ha ha, get it? Spirit? Never mind.) of fun.

The rooms are quite serviceable. They offer everything you need, and at a price like that, you can actually carry your own toothbrush and soap even if they did not offer you (and of course they do!). And the hotel is quite close to both the airport and the Secunderabad Railway Station.

Yatri Nivas is quite sprawling, and is a little civilisation in itself. It also has its own pan shop. See, it is self-sustaining!
