The movie is an all time classic in Black & White and 35mm format. Colorization is fair enough but, convertion to cinemascope is bad. The whole picture is not visible and at times, the frame has to be moved up or down to keep the focus on the actors.
The pure creative brilliance of that good old movie is completely lost in this remix version. If you ever observed hard enough, the frame in which Ghatothkacha lands on a hill to start Ariel fight with Abhimanyu, there is a small stone that falls of depicting the weight of Ghatothkacha. This is achieved through whatever technology that is existing that time and shows the perfection given to the minute detail. Unfortunately, that whole effect is lost after cinemascope.
Overall, I need to buy a DVD of the old movie, before the market is flooded with the color thing.
Pros: Script, Acting, dilogue diction Cons: Conversion to Cinemascope

I'm 27 and Mayabazar (B&W) is the third best movie(Telugu) on my list... don't worry... No 1 and 2 are also age old B&W classics... But I feel sad to say I'm not that impressed by this touch up... It feels like a 40 lady, beautiful though she's still, going on pretending to be a 20 year old maiden...
I'll put my points here... and this is completely personal...
1. Cinema scope: did we see the complete picture here? some parts of the frame are missing obviously, u can't fit good old movies onto a 70 mm without doing so..
2. Color: How can one replace the aura of the moon light from the original - eg. lahiri lahiri lahirilo
3. Blue Krishna: We might have been used to seeing this... but why Lord Krishna is always blue??? especially in Telugu movies??? I never much liked NTR's mytho color movies for similar reasons.... NTR was magnificent and royal in B&W...
4. Color again: all those mind blowing effects depicting arrows-in-sky, mayabazar formation, food items et al... i don't feel the same magic...
Maybe my opinion was skewed by my love for the original, formed by repeated watching, but this is how i felt it...
Please, please don't do the same to narthanashala, sri krishna pandaveeyam etc...
On the positive note, Savitri looks gorgeous... can't help but fall in love with her... and ANR is nice too, costumes are not bad either
Pros: Young Savitri in color... very pretty Cons: Blue Krishna??? who are u kidding?

A legendary movie, baap of all telugu movies just like sholay in hindi. so many special effects in those days without using any graphics/animations etc.
we should be lucky that it's re released in color and with dts technology.
I'm also proud that the grand daughter of the late director of this movie is my good friend
watch it and you won't regret
Pros: cast, songs, comedy, performances Cons: nothing's coming to my mind
