Ethnic Arts Exhibition Held At Madhapur

A new and exciting exhibition, the Aadya Kala: Telangana Ethnic Arts Exhibition, displaying remnants from the rich cultural past of a unified Deccan, were put on display at the State Art Gallery in Madhapur.
Tribal, ethnic and literary artefacts from the once-flourishing Koya, Gond, Banjara and Chenchu tribal cultures were put on display at the gallery for the past few weeks (till August 15).
The exhibition brought together many artefacts from these varied tribal cultures under one roof and even included vibrant Janapada folklore paintings. Categorised into four sections, Aadi Aksharam (manuscripts), Aadi Dhwani (musical instruments), Aadi Chitram (paintings) and Dokra (bronze, iron and stone metal works), it showcased a rich collection making the event a real treat for history buffs and art lovers alike. Some items on display were nearly a 1,000 years old.
Most items exhibited belong to Professor J Thirumala Rao, who has collected a whopping 2,000 artefacts from 15 tribes and sub-tribes over the last four decades.
