The Gallery Space, Hyderabad, played host to an art showcase titled 'Dual' last week.

Featuring works by acclaimed artists Thota Vaikuntam and Ramesh Gorjala, the showcase was a fascinating juxtaposition of two very diverse perspectives. While Vaikuntam's work draws a majority of its inspiration from rural Telangana, the work of Gorjala finds its source material in Indian mythology and culture. Even in terms of technique, the two come from opposing ends of the spectrum, with Vaikuntam's canvas portraying scenes of rustic life presented in bold strokes with a profusion of colour, and Gorjala's palette combining the local art of Kalamkari with his mythology inspirations.

Despite their apparent differences, however, the two very diverse schools of thought came together admirably to present a very alluring picture.
