8th Telangana State Sailing Championships

The 8th Telangana State Sailing Championships concluded on December 29, following four days of intense competition at Hussain Sagar. Organized by the Telangana Sailing Association and hosted by the Yacht Club of Hyderabad, the championship saw participation from 131 sailors representing 15 districts. This year, the event also welcomed six sailors from Haryana, adding a new dimension to the State-level contest.

Hyderabad's young sailing talents, Thanuja Kameshwar and Deekshita Komaravelly, stole the spotlight with their stellar performances. Thanuja, a student of Udbhav School, achieved an extraordinary feat by winning three consecutive gold medals, marking a hat-trick and solidifying her status as a rising star in the sport. Her schoolmate, Deekshita, showcased remarkable versatility and determination, securing one gold, two silver and one bronze medal, totalling four medals across various categories.

The championship highlighted the growing interest and talent in sailing across Telangana, with sailors from diverse backgrounds coming together to compete at one of the region's premier sailing venues. Organizers expressed satisfaction with the level of participation and the spirit of sportsmanship displayed throughout the event.
