Music enthusiasts gathered at Ravindra Bharathi Auditorium on December 24, 2024, to mark the 100th birth anniversary of playback singer Mohammed Rafi. The event, Jashn-E-Mohd Rafi – Ek Shaam Rafi Ke Naam, paid tribute to the singer's contributions to Indian music.
The program was organized by the Deccan Cultural Organisation in association with the Department of Language & Culture, Government of Telangana. Singers Amjad Khan, Antara, Anjali Srivastav, Salman, Ramana and Tahseen performed several of Rafi's well-known songs, including Chaudhvin Ka Chand Ho, Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar, and Kya Hua Tera Wada.
Iftekhar Shareef, the First Overseas Citizen of India, attended as the chief guest and addressed the audience about Rafi's influence on Indian music. Mamadi Hari Krishna, Director of the Department of Language & Culture, and Dr Shujath Ali IIS (Retd) were among the dignitaries present at the event.
K B Jani anchored the program, guiding the audience through the performances and brief segments on Rafi's career. Event convenor Sarwat Ali acknowledged the artists and attendees for their participation.
The event concluded with attendees reflecting on Rafi's musical legacy and his contributions to Indian cinema.
