Urbansketchers Hyderabad celebrated its 300th event with a week-long sketching marathon from December 8 to 14, 2024. Over the course of seven days, participants captured the essence of the city through 300 unique sketches, spotlighting Hyderabad's rich cultural tapestry, architectural marvels and daily life.
The milestone event opened with a workshop at Lamakaan on December 8. From 1:30 to 3:30 pm, artists of all levels gathered to explore urban sketching techniques, including perspective drawing and dynamic line work. The session also provided attendees with event schedules, suggested materials, and an overview of the daily themes. Lamakaan served as the launchpad for the week's activities and later hosted the final exhibition on December 14, where the collective works were displayed.
Throughout the week, sketchers visited iconic landmarks, such as Charminar, Chowmahalla Palace, Hussain Sagar and Laad Bazaar. Each day brought new locations to explore, allowing participants to document Hyderabad's evolving urban landscape. Mornings featured sketch walks, while afternoons were dedicated to specialized workshops on advanced techniques. Evenings provided an opportunity for reflection and sharing, fostering a sense of community among the artists.
The event also included unique sessions, such as night sketching at Charminar and a children's workshop, encouraging young artists to engage with their surroundings. A bustling market sketch at Laad Bazaar added a dynamic element, capturing the vibrancy of the area.
The closing ceremony at Lamakaan invited the public to view the 300 sketches, offering a glimpse into Hyderabad through the eyes of its artists. Participants shared their experiences, emphasizing the event's role in strengthening the city's artistic community and deepening connections among creatives.
Urbansketchers Hyderabad's 300th event stood as a testament to the group's dedication to fostering artistic expression and documenting the city's ever-changing urban fabric.
